Illustrations of poems for Popshot Magazine

I had a great pleasure to illustrate poems
for three recent issues of the literary magazine Popshot
Editor: Jacob Denno
HOW TO BE
A CHINESE LANTERN
A poem by S.A. Leavesley (the "Light" issue #18)

...Before that glow dies, spark another
and another until those around you
rise too, lifted upwards, onwards –

this lit flotilla of lanterns
floating stronger, higher, freer.

TEA FOR JELENA
A poem by Matthew Landrum (the "Future" issue #17)

On foggy morning when the world recedes and leaves you
islanded, wake to quiet in the house and stand at the window,

rubbing sleep from your eyes, and imagine the mountains
and forests have dissolved,

folded into banks of clouds, that the sea also
has gone...

SMALL ANIMALS
A poem by Christina Haraba ("Hope" issue #16)

... Become something good at last, nourishment for trees or hungry
underground creatures, friendlier than the ones in your head.

Days when you wish the sun fell from the sky and shattered,
when any noise except for the grumbling vacuum

in your stomach makes you want to curl into a small animal
under a hard shell - a tortoise, an armadillo, a mollusc...

...The very essence of romance is uncertainty
A quote by Oscar Wilde ("Romance" issue #17)
