Identity Design Forced Connections

This project is a logo design exercise where two tables of words are cross joined to create odd or interesting match ups. Once the unique phrases are established the hard part begins, making them work. This was an interesting challenge especially by incorporating positive and negative designs into the works. These odd connections
usually seemed destined for failure then right around the corner the "Ahh Ha!" moment swoops in.

The first step in this process is to have two tables of words, one with  adjectives, and the other with interesting nouns. Such as salty snake or fiery arrow . This is important because these will be the basis of the design and the words the designer will pull their hair out over.  Once the forced connections are made the brain storming begins, either with mind maps or sketching. This is the most important step because good sketches here will go along way! . Once adequate sketches have been produced we need to get others opinions before we head too far down the wrong path. If others like the ideas continue to work and move to a digital media. The hard part is tying in multiple images into the same object without it looking messy or ruining the design aspects. Working in black and white first will help this become more apparent.

This was a very enjoyable and interesting project and I did learn quite a bit. It was very time consuming for me and many others as well. Just like with every project I can say I learned more about illustrator and the importance of the K.I.S.S method(keep it simple stupid). One of the coolest and most useful things I took away from this project was how to bring together an image and create an idea from two unexpected words.
