This is my poster illustration for AMPL!FY, a new public art and design initiative sponsored by NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), the Museum of Art and Design (MAD), Harlem Stage, Make Art With Purpose, and World Studios Social Initiatives. 

The life-size posters will be publicly showcased in art display cases in Manhattan’s Financial District, on Water Street between Pine Street and Maiden Lane and on Gouverneur Lane between Water Street and Front Street, in partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation’s Art Program (DOT Art). They also will be shown at the Museum of Art and Design on Columbus Circle. Both exhibits will run from November 2nd, 2017 to January 7th, 2018.

My image developed through conversations with Jerron Herron, a principal dancer for the Heidi Lasky Dance company. Mr. Herron has cerebral palsy, and our conversations focused on his experience of achieving asymmetrical forms of harmony and grace while navigating constructed environments that are usually not designed with his range of motion in mind. 

On the back of the poster (which is also visible in the DOT streetscape display cases), the NYC nonprofit Inclusive Collective advocates for more creative and beautiful design for people with disabilities.
