woven soundscape (2016)
75.5” x 63.5”
Hand-dyed and handwoven ikat cloth, copper mesh, solid core copper wire, Arduino microcontroller, Max MSP, Macbook Pro, speakers

The double-wide, thrice-dyed ikat cloth is connected to an Arduino microcontroller and visual programming software Max MSP via wires and copper mesh pads which act as capacitive sensors. This allows the viewer to interact with the textile as an instrument, generating and altering sound depending on their proximity to the hidden sensors.
