The concept of the memento was to depict 3 areas of IISc.

1. Science & Technology - depicted by the satellite and the delta sign

2. Defence Services - depicted by the missile

3. Human Resources - depicted by the characters at the bottom.

The different elements were to be displayed on a rock-like structure.

A flag-post bearing the logo of IISc was appended to the top of the structure.
