ACT: A Creative Test

ACT: A Creative Test
The ACT is a College Board created test with which most students in the United States have become or will become familiar. I have chosen to use this particular test as a platform for marketing my creative thinking, opening the paper document to an article for conversation and ideation. In its original form, the ACT is an aptitude test with the intent of measuring a person’s ability to comprehend and complete. To replace this function, I have manipulated the academic experience from one with concrete answers, to an open-ended response format, which eliminates the user’s ability to make an error. The new intent is to examine the way in which the human thinks, when given an assortment of questions which have traveled through my own creative process. This project also serves as a critique of the test itself which is administered to thousands of high school students each year, yet lacks the inclusion of creative thinkers in its academic focus.

NOTE: All questions, passages, and the ‘Message to Students’ in this test have been rewritten and replaced by the artist.

Thank you.
