ISEA / AN OCEAN OF IDEAS
Author:Roxana T. Barraza (VjThai) (Monterrey, México.)

Iused to look at the horizon, listen to the waves and loose myself in the sea.
Butwhy?

Ifeel a communication, a flow of information coded in some sort of unconscious language.
It gives me a sensation of having no limits, it fulfills me and at the sametime I dissolve myself in it.

Thispiece is a digital Yin Yan that yuxtaposes digital chaos with natural harmonyor beauty. It invites us to explore the new relations and contrasts it conveysin a poetic way.

Whatwe listen to in this video, is a deconstruction of ideas, that representsthoughts, feelings and ideas in a free flow, that resembles a “stream of consciousness” from the seaof ideas that the internet universe seems to be; it invites us to pay attention to messages that are tryingto go across in this saturated medium that seems to be pure datamosh.

Freudtalked about the oceanicconsciousness, like the one in which we feel that our individual existencelooses in a mystical union with the universe (Youngblood, 1970).

Theobjectives of my postVj expressions are a reaction to the saturation of imagesand the exponential acceleration in the rhythm of production and assimilationof images.
Itis my intention to create URL and IRL spaces for harmony and beauty with mywork, that contrasts with the “real” chaos, and give presence to nature, contemplation and meditation in this virtual world focused society.

ABOUTTHE PROCESS / where it all began

Simplicity: the image. Record the sea horizon, there where I saw so manysunsets year after year while I lived in El Salvador, now in 16:9 panoramic view.

Complexity: a sound landscape created from the unexpected, digital error, andinformation overload. More than 80 Firefox windows trying to open the same timewhile my computer restarts from what seemed to be an electrical storm forcedshutdown.
A collection of tabs, they had been accumulating for days in mycomputer during my recent investigations, and poor laptop had had no restingtime as a result of the limitless digital searching and infinite scrowling.

EXHIBITION
This video is a fragment of the original piece to be exhibited in a one channelprojection, in loop with infinite duration.

It has been only been exhibited online as part of  the international exhibition PANTALLA GLOBAL - physically exhibited at CCCB Barcelona 2012  and virtually exhibited hosted at Vimeo platform.
