This mug was somewhat of an experiment with wood-firing possibilities. Blue underglaze was applied but burnt mostly form high temperatures but can still be seen as a blue ring on the bottom below the glaze drip. The atmosphere of the wood kiln was captured in this mug with the glaze effects. There are natural drips in the color and different textures that all collected from the firing.

This project was used to question what is a sketchbook and the significance of function. How can the artist use the same fundamentals used in a sketchbook but in a different media? This piece is a three-dimensional canvas which gives the ability for the user to answer those questions.
