The Wolf Pack—one of the oldest professional hockey franchises extant, and the oldest continuously operating minor league franchise in North America—began operations in 1926 as the Providence Reds. They moved to Hartford in 1997 as the Hartford Wolf Pack.
The redesigned primary mark is a simplified and modernized rendition of their current primary logo that is actually only occasionally used as a primary mark. The team currently uses it as a shoulder patch instead of a crest on their current jerseys, for example, where a diagonal wordmark spans the front of the uniforms instead. As a show of respect to their historic lineage, the secondary mark utilizes the New York Rangers'—their NHL affiliate—original 1926 shield shape as an homage.

Team colors have also been simplified, reducing the primary logo from seven colors to four. They've also been aligned with the team's adoption of the Rangers' 2014 Stadium Series uniforms which now serve as the jersey base for all three of their jerseys.
