What attracts me to clay as a medium is it’s versatility. The possibility of endless forms provokes my imagination. I believe that objects made from any material have a life of their own--a past, a present, and a future. Each of these objects starts with a blip in the corner of my mind. They are ubiquitous hybrids birthed in ambiguity, using unseen elements of this world or of a dream world similar to ours. I see them as the contact point between the natural world and human culture. For me they have a familiar, yet slightly disturbing presence, like the sensation one gets when a shadow is cast in the corner of one’s eye. I make these hybrids with a peace of mind, knowing that whatever I make will never be as strange as reality.
