Seasons
This was a school project for which we had to make pictures with the collage technique according to the theme of the seasons.
My idea was to make non-figurative pictures with a creature changing according its respectable season.
My idea was to make non-figurative pictures with a creature changing according its respectable season.
The pictures are situated on wooden frames (16x16 cm). I painted the backgrounds with acrylic paint and then glued objects onto it. The task specified that all objects on the pictures may not be thicker than 1 cm, so I had to choose each accordingly. I chose bones as my main material, which can be found in all 4 pictures. I used chicken bones which I varnished before gluing onto the surface. I tried choosing the objects according to their specified seasons (i.e.: in the picture depicting winter there are pieces of glass and screws, and the autumn piece has dried leaves, etc).
In the end I took the completed pictures and glued those onto wooden plates which I painted black (20x20 cm) in order to make them easier to carry and to hold.

One of the main difficulties was the smell of cooked bones while I was trying to glue them (this was also the main reason I varnished them, but to be honest it didn’t change much). Another obstacle was the fact that leaves are rather fragile so I had to work with them rather carefully.
All in all this whole project was a labour of love and I enjoyed every minute of it. This was my first ever task where I had to make a non-figurative design and it was a project I still am proud of.
Thank you for watching!
