Motion is a relative factor in the majority of Galvin Harrison's work. There are numerous examples where the eye cannot locate space on the surface to experience peace and harmony. The composition is restless and moves in the same fashion as the palette, dramatic and vulnerable. Galvin Harrison’s works seem to accumulate areas of moveable storage spaces. The painting’s frame, as mentioned above, almost achieves a bursting point with the constant shifting. The images appear as a duality with a heaviness and a plasticity that you would otherwise find within the sphere of installation or sculptural art. The work at times has a three dimensional juxtaposition so the accumulation of layers, assume the appearance of materials stacked on top of each other to the extent where they almost appear to collapse, fills the stage frame by frame. Perhaps conveying a paraphrase of a surviving city or landscape. An archive of memories, an archive of accumulated waste, an image of the western world and a questioning of its rampant consumer culture.
