Neighborhood Branding

OBJECTIVE: Choose a neighborhood in the Seattle area to research, create a brand, and implement that brand into projects for both Digital Illustration and Type and Image studio branding.
SOLUTION: The photos I took on the neighborhood walk in Pioneer Square, my chosen neighborhood in Seattle, informed my digital illustration and overall aesthetic.
DELIVERABLES: Digital illustration (and application), logomark, logotype, color palette, map with original icons, rack card, mobile app, and brand guidelines.
TIMELINE: 5 weeks

DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION AND APPLICATION
Iconic buildings and architectural structures from Pioneer Square influenced my digital illustration. I chose to apply my digital illustration on a billboard.

LOGOMARK AND LOGOTYPE
Create an identifying logomark (a symbol or mark without the name) to represent Pioneer Square. Add appropriate type to the logo and find type for the overall brand identity. While finding the logotype, I had not yet finalized the logomark, thus throughout the drafting process, the mark changes.

COLOR PALETTE
Create an appropriate color palette for neighborhood. After the neighborhood walk, I chose a warm brick red color as the main color and added neutral accents.

ICONS AND MAP
Create cohesive icons that are easily identifiable at a small scale then implement on a map for Pioneer Square. After going on the neighborhood walk and my research on places to see, I decided to focus on important restaurants, cafes, historical sites, and bus stops.

RACK CARD
Create a rack card for Pioneer Square with basic information about the neighborhood.  I chose to include the digital illustration on the rack card.

MOBILE APP FOR MAP
Create the home screen of an app for your website. The app's main function should be to direct users around Pioneer Square. Click the link below to test the app.

BRAND GUIDELINES
Create a brand guidelines document with the different aspects that make up the brand identity. Color palette, type, logomark and logotype should be included. This was an optional assignment that I chose to do for Pioneer Square.
