Annual Report - Piaggio (a 24 page excerpt mock-up)
In creating this 2017 annual report mock-up excerpt for The Piaggio Group, the areas selected to focus on were as follows: CEO message, defining moments in the business year, company boards/roles, group profile/certifications, revenue/employment facts/figures, group brand explanations, product ranges, international dimension, governance and code ethics. These choices were made to give the best corporate introduction possible which could be conveyed over a twenty-four-page spread. The design was based around the idea of a fresh modern but highly informative magazine feel which is representative of the extremely forward thinking group of companies that Piaggio embodies.
The Piaggio Group is a multinational group of companies with a general focus on two-wheel transport production from motorcycles to scooters, electric bicycles to research and development in other electric powered niches. The Piaggio Group has a strong tie to its Italian based production roots while its growth has moved throughout Europe, India, and the Asian Pacific, and North America. The typeface Roboto was selected for its clean, modern legibility with the typeface Bebas applied supportively for numerics. Within the use of the Roboto typeface for body copy, no more than five levels of hierarchy were applied throughout the document for simplicity and best typographic practices.
The main Piaggio logo is built around a hexagonal shape which is silhouetted throughout the document as a common tie along with the use of other repetitive supporting geometric visuals to enhance the texture, feel, movement, and general flow. The documents colour palette came directly from the brand colours as dictated by Piaggio. Imagery used is selected from the current annual report as well as press kit photos from Piaggio’s main website. Imagery selection was curated with a general favouritism to standard company colours with the accent of reds and grey/silvers. These are strong colours in the diverse product line as well as the ever-present tie of red in Italian motorcycle design.
