I used 3 tutorials to come up with this little guy. The mouth and shadow work used this tutorial, the body shape and character choice used this tutorial, and the line work and overall style used this tutorial. The heart on the belly is exclusively my own as it follows in line with my work with Hedgehog & Rabbit and how most of my characters are designed. 

The hexagon background was designed as an anti-pattern with a pattern within it. If you look closer, you'll see an overall pattern in the hexagons other than the obvious one. This is an anti-pattern pattern.
