Miht Mead - Packaging label design

Mead is created by fermenting honey with water, the basic
recipe involves just water + honey + yeast. Many mead
enthusiasts follow this basic recipe and add their
own twists with fruits, spices and contemporary
fermentation processes.

The design for the symbol is inspired by runes,
alluding to the magical properties this beverage has
been said to have in myths and legends. A Norse myth
tells that Odin, the norse god, mixed his blood
into the honey and water mixture, and anyone who
drank it gained wisdom and became a poet.

The backgrounds shown in the labels are digital
paintings that reference the ingredients or the variety’s
specific characteristics. Snow and blood red for
winter’s traditional recipe, golden bubbles for summer,
warm sugar tones for the fall caramelized honey and
vibrant magentas and greens for spring’s strawberry
and rhubarb.

The labels measure 6 inches wide by 3 inches tall and
are printed on adhesive paper.
