Voiceless - White Washing

For an article on the Pratt institute paper (the Prattler) about white washing in American media.
Though there is a lack of representation for all minorities, Asians are the worst off in this regard accounting for less than one percent of TV lead roles despite making up 60 percent of the world’s population and five percent of the US population(up to 15 percent if you’re in a city like LA) Can you name at least five black actors? five latino actors? Now how about Asian ones? Aside from Jackie Chan you’re probably drawing a blank. This matters because it reinforces the view that Asians don’t belong in America. The only acting Oscar to ever be awarded to an Asian actor was Miyoshi Umeki for her role as Best Supporting Actress in Sayonara. This was in 1957, 60 years ago.
