“Self” Cove

For this project I explored the idea of the “self” for an education project aimed to break down a person into key objects they possess, their scent and favourite song. Is it possible to learn about someone without ever seeing them, knowing their name or gender etc.I think the experience of going into this space which from the outside seems very neutral is similar to that of speaking to someone for the first time. We as humans exchange language with one another. Objects, sound and smell are forms of language so really in that sense the experience is not giving much less than spoken dialogue. I think that the effective part of the learning experience is that the person finds their own meanings surrounding the idea of self rather than something very specific so in a way earn the information from exploring and gain more the more they explore (adding to the democratic part of it).
