Penn State alumni on Black student experience in 1960s

Penn State alumni on the Black student experience in the 1960s and the day Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated
Artist Statement
This video was made in partnership with the 1968 Moments of Change program within the Penn State College of the Liberal Arts. It features two interviews of alumni who experienced first hand the challenges faced by students of color during this time period, and unfortunately into the present. Rod Woodson, the second subject, talks about the day he found out the news that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had been assassinated. Working with this footage enabled me to develop an even deeper appreciation for the people who were on the front lines, fighting for the right side of history.

Production Statement
The footage used here was shot by the College and then passed along to me for editing. These two interviews were each 45 minutes to an hour in length, so the first step was to edit a long cut of these multicamera interviews. Along the way, I would note down certain moments or quotes that could later be used for a trailer-style video to promote the 1968 Moments of Change program and the associated class. All editing was done in Adobe Premiere Pro accessed through my full access simply for being a Penn State student.
