With abundant delays and evasive updates, the MTA leaves people frustrated. They don't deliver effective or timely information about service changes - even the planned ones. Riders are met with congestion and confusion. And the official resources are neither current nor reliable.

INTRODUCING BEACON
An app that allows riders to report incidents in real time, through crowd-sourced MTA service data that is combined with location-based alerts and navigation prompts.
Posted to transit stops and with the boilerplate service update already provided by the MTA, these provide context, immediacy, and foresight for other riders, so they can plan around last minute delays and maker better decisions.
ONBOARDING
Beacon onboarding helps the app determine rider needs. All of these settings can be changed in the user profile. Handicap services is one of the main features of Beacon. By selecting this option on the onboarding/user profile page will allow beacon to prioritize post regarding accessible means ( i.e elevators, lifts, ramps), accessible navigation preference (i.e. bus).

STATION VIEW
Beacon’s user community contributes content on service changes, while peers moderate data through a simple up-vote and down-vote system. These post are accessible through the station drawer on the global view. The Station View is the user's home station, as the user travels this view will update to the closest station to the user.
