I deduced from Felix the fish that Adolf the giant may be a foreshadowing
of Adolf Hitler and him blocking the river was a form of censorship and the
withholding of information. I looked into the restriction of information, the
control the government has in today’s society and how news is manipulated
before we hear it.
Major news giants control what information goes to press and with the rise of
social media, more fake news is being spread and misinterpreted as reality.
On one side of the flashcard is the alphabet consisting of a capital letter and a
lower case letter. This is paired with the children’s illustration of objects such as
an apple or fish. The typeface Gill sans is sans serif and clear to read therefore
perfect for children learning.
On the other side of the flashcard is a dark topic, often shown in the news and
headlines but not discussed with children. They are oblivious to these issues
happening in our world. The harsh reality is contradictory to the light hearted
imagery on the front but it showcases our second guessing at information sources.
