JIM KAY
When it comes to recent work within illustration, Jim Kay is one of my biggest inspirations. His latest work consists of the new illustrated versions of the Harry Potter-books, and the way he reimagines that entire universe and makes it his own is very impressive to me.
SAM WALSH
The work of Sam Walsh I saw for the first time at the National Portrait Gallery in London. "Mike's Brother", which is a portrait Walsh did of Paul McCartney really stood out to me and I made an attempt to recreate it because of how interesting his technique was. What especially fascinated me was how he made oils look like watercolors. The original is seen above.
TRAVEL
Seeing new places, new cultures and meeting new people usually makes me create even more than usual and inspires new ideas.
LITERATURE
Books and literature has always inspired me since a young age. Now especially that illustrating books is a dream of mine, and as seen in my portfolio, some of my work is inspired by literature. Above is one of J. R. R. Tolkiens own illustrations for The Lord of the Rings.
