Photography for Social Change: Humans and Nature

The topic for this photo essay on my part was the negative effects of humanity on nature because of the fact that it is so readily seen in the environment today. Besides, the negative results of these displays of pollution and simple destruction are readily apparent in society today, through such events as global warming raising water levels and deforestation decreasing forest life around the world.
This photo essay highlights the primary issues of my topic through their metaphorical focuses on the effects of technology and its splitting from the natural world. Oftentimes I took photos of elements that seemed rather jarring in comparison to their surroundings to display the true difference between the natural and the industrial in order to create a feeling of a sort of battle occurring between the two elements. Otherwise, I would also display destruction of natural elements surrounded by technological items to show a more literal and immediate problem caused by these creations.
Though fixing the problems highlighted in these photos wouldn't be easy, it definitely is in reach. The problems displayed could easily go very wrong, and destroy society as we know it. However, if we simply recycle, more people sought professional jobs in the natural field, and experts put more funding into the assistance of cleaner technologies, even common people could help in bringing contributions to ending the destruction caused by modern technology, big and small.
