We link to TED's educational nature by imagining a TEDx-branded museum or gallery as repository of history and learning. This is filled with sculptural representations of humanity, designed to illustrate the best and worst aspects of ourselves, and functioning as an honest reflection of global society.

Modern subjects are mixed with classical sculptural forms, and the suspended animation of sculpture kindles poignant evaluation of our current position on humanity’s short timeline. Subjects balance the positive and negative, with themes of love, death, war, learning, ingenuity, destruction, classical history and technology all featured, and approached in a spirit of seriousness and honesty.

Sets and gallery rooms were designed to support each sculpture, to reflect and reinforce. The scale of the hall impresses the weight of human history upon us. The shooting is housed in and austere and zen-like contemplation courtyard. The protest occurs in an industrial-style gallery, and the marble schoolgirls stand in light-filled place of gathering. The General is isolated in a cold and lightless chamber, while the block child resides in a bright and sunlit modern gallery room.

The architecture of hallways and adjoining spaces links the individual rooms of the fictional museum. There are glimpses of the X branding, and the < > devices unique to TEDx Sydney are here used as way-finding devices.

Characteristics of modernism and brutalism are prominent, with concrete softened by white paint, warm light, and plants. Spaces live and breath as the light sweeps through them over the course of a day.

A series of 5xHD-wide looping backgrounds were generated to introduce sessions, performers, and speakers.
These were rendered at a whopping 10k pixels.

Above: A selection of single-screen loops. Below: Some of the 5xHD-wide loops shown as stills.

Similar to the previous year, the looping graphics were adapted for the "Birds Mouth", a 4-storey high LED display at the entrance the Convention Centre in Sydney's Darling Harbour.
