To the Moon and Back!
I had a blast learning how to do animation with this project! As per usual, I started with some sketches, and went from there! I have a lot of little boys in my life, so paper airplanes are common place. I wanted to create something that would portray that idea in a meaningful way.
Here are some of the sketches I did to come to that conclusion!
But getting the idea was the easy part! The work started when it came to making it a reality! I started designing the compositions in illustrator, and seeing it come to life was exciting! The drafts looked like this..
As the concept came together, then I was able to combine them into a single composition, and add some more detail.
And then the magic began! I was able pulled them into After Effects, and using the plane as a precomposition, I was able to start adding motion! I made the plane move, and made the other elements move and twinkle to make it feel more real. I had fun learning about the expressions and the things that manipulate them. The possibilities are endless!
Take a look at the final animation! Enjoy!
