This is a FM synthesiser I created in Reaktor 6. I have utilised two separate multimode filters before and after the effects stage to give increased customisability. Moreover, I have included an envelope for the cut off of the first filter, so that more interesting modulation can be applied to the signal, to create large swells that get more or less harsh dependant on the filter mode.
The last two pictures show inside the Ring Modulation and Flanger macros which I created from scratch using Reaktor primary.
Creating a synth from scratch excites me as I have even more control when finding the perfect sound for track. Knowing how the signal flow works means I have a much better understanding of how to tweak each parameter so that I can make it sound smoother or more creepy, as well as being able to actually dive back into the editing panel if I think it needs something more. Rather than endlessly flicking through the same old presets I can design my own with precision, finding the sweet spot for a bass line or lead, and when it sounds right there's nothing that is more thrilling.
