Hand Wash Station | Typographical Poster
This project that began in early August was based around the idea of designing a parody-based typographical poster, with the inclusion of many illustration-like elements, that help visually present a ludicrous concept whereby a traditional car wash system has been altered into one specifically designed to wash and scrub hands (hence the name Hand Wash) as a way of jokingly mocking people who have extremely high levels of obsession with their own personal hygiene.

As you will see, the visual style of the overall concept is that of minimalism and simplicity whilst also making very heavy use of basic shapes, as well as third-party vector art, alongside light grain textures and lighting gradients in order to help add a further level of depth to the final finished piece.

A lot of cliché elements that are regularly seen at car washes are also included here within the alternative, such as the header and sub-header sign, the see-through glass with vinyl sticker promotions, soap bubbles, heat steam, in and out signs, a drainage system, and of course traditional condescending spray-on graffiti.

The display mockup for the final outcome places the design itself into a black frame that is then rested up against a wall that shares a similar colour to the dominant colour of the finished poster. This helps ensure that both elements blend together in a calm yet formal manner that isn’t too distracting, or make one seem out of place from the other.

So, be sure to tell me what you think in the comment section below!

This is a non-commercial project.
