New Identity for Konzertverein Bozen

Brand identity and campaign for Konzertverein Bozen – Società dei Concerti di Bolzano, an association based in the city of Bolzano|Bozen which organizes each year a series of chamber music concerts and contributes to take care of spreading and preserving chamber music, an antique and precious genre of classical music that is part of the Italian culture.

The visual identity is deeply connected to this kind of music, because it seeks to represents a composition made up of some various musical movements. The concept, is related to the relationship between visual and auditory events that characterize a composition.This relation could be represented and defined by the density of the number of visual elements, defined by notation and produced by an auditive event which is basically the concert in itself.
I firstly discovered that each composition is made up of different movements, which define the rhythm and the speed of the piece, but also define the entire composition.  Secondly, I  translated visually the concept by composing the different movements to obtain the composition.

But how to achieve that? We all know that music is made up of beats per minutes, known as BPM, and the quantity of beats increase or decrease according to the speed of the music mood. This data, defined by numbers, gives the possibility to visualise this density, using names of the movements as beat, disposed in a limitate portion of space which represents the minute.
The final result is a modular and typographical solution which is meant to translate musical compositions. As in a composition movements are well distincted but united, so the division between the different movements is made by colours used in different shades.
This ghraphical element is applied to the picture mark, but also to the A1 poster in a bigger version, which create an optical illusion of being pulled into the composition.

Colour scheme is based on eye-catching colours to attract people’s attention and to give a younger identity to the association. Season by season one colour from the previous season will be mantained while the other will change.

The ghraphical element is also applied to the stationary, and it is part of the new logo.
The project has been selected to be realized and it is still in use by Konzertverein Bozen | Società dei Concerti Bolzano
