COOPER HEWITT MOVEABLE TYPE
–
2018

a speculative visual identity for a fictional Cooper Hewitt exhibit on moveable type set in the year 2030. The project imagines a future where funding for cultural institutions is dwindling, and how those institutions might have to compromise their values and vision to keep their doors open to the public. In response to this crisis, the Cooper Hewitt Museum devises an advertising system that tries to embrace and adapt to an increasingly privatized, ultracapitalist future. But can art and commerce coexist? Or is our culture doomed to be swept under the crashing waves of commerce?

Featured here are:  1. Cooper Hewitt’s new advertising guidelines booklet, and the system therein applied to  2. a series of exhibition guide booklets and  3. a series of promotional posters.
