PORTFOLIO  COOP-DESIGN RESEARCH  2014-2015
The coop design research portfolio was done from Feb to March 2015. This was a freelance assignment offered by the COOP design research design course offered by Hochschule Anhalt.

The team consisted of three designers Dennise Cepeda Benavides, Maithini Krivanish and Muhammad Suhaib.

The assignment was to compile a design portfolio of works produced by students during their study semester between Oct 2014 to Feb 2015. The portfolio was used for accreditation of the course.

The challenge was to develop Information architecture for works produced in three different parts, of course, design as research, design as education and design as projection, three different exhibitions and 5 workshops that were conducted during the semester. Although there was a certain timeline of how things were offered during the semester these parts were not in isolation. There were many cross-references between parts of the course, between workshops, reading materials and exhibitions curated at that time.

To develop a workable strategy that focuses on the collaborations and interconnectivity of subjects which was also the gist of the whole program, we started with brainstorming sessions. In this brainstorming session, all the participants of the course took part. We started by writing keywords that appeared in the course. These keywords were collected, rated and categorized. As the second part, mind maps were created and all the works, readings, workshops and exhibition pieces were categorized under the keywords. For this part, we used the card sorting method. As a result, we were able to define a network on which the whole course work was based on.

As the following step, symbols were created for keywords, works from different formats were converted to a format that could be printed and compiled into a single file and visual hierarchy was created. These symbols were then used to streamline works. Exhibition pieces were photographed, posters, videos, and write-ups were collected. COOP design research participants were asked to give write up for exhibition articles that needed explanations.

By using, post-its' to create categories and card sorting to highlight the network, we developed the table of content in a chronological timeline which was easy to follow and it highlighted the interconnectivity of works during the semester. We followed given visual guidelines to convert the content into the portfolio. The visual identity guidelines for the course were made by Atelier Hurra.
