Pre-production design for an animated short film [Diploma Project]

Tiktiki
The comic relation between a boy and his pet lizard, Tiktiki, through a series of short films. Originally visualised as a 3D project.
An African Tribal art inspired design for the characters of the film.
Expressive characters that could project emotions without dialogue were the key focus of the pre-production design.
Character design of the child was to portray simplicity and agility. A simple form was chosen so that animation could be appropriately executed
This was the character design for Tiktiki the pet Lizard. The form is simple and free flowing, giving room to stretching and portrayal of maximum body language and big expressive eyes for emotions.
Colour and Detail design options for the boy based of African Tribal Art.
Two views of Tiktiki, side and top, to understand her interaction with the coloured tiles in the background.
Final look and feel of both characters and their interaction with their backgrounds.
3D renders of the final characters and background of the first short film.
