B/W PORTRAITS
"Farmer" by Niharika Srivastava
Charcoal ~ 15"X12" ~ 2017

I do not know the person in panting personally and got the reference from a friend but somehow I could connect with him just by the linings on his face, which tempted me to attempt this artwork. Farming is the major occupation in many states in India and even my grandfather came from farming background, so I know how tough this occupation is and this person truly reflects the characteristics of hard work. Charcoal was my best choice to portray his character.
"Splashes" by Niharika Srivastava
Charcoal ~ 12"X16" ~ 2017

This was a part of digital photography but I tried to give the impression of painting using Charcoal. I found it very interesting to
work with charcoal within so many forms in this painting. I just loved the feeling of joy in this reference and enjoyed making every bit of it.
“Old Buddy" by Niharika Srivastava
Liquid Ink ~ 12"X12" ~ 2018

I made this piece of visual art to enhance my skills with Ink. Evidently ink is the difficult medium to try a portrait, so I attempted this old man from a photograph. I faced difficulty with his beard and hence I could learn a great deal from this painting, the use of ink for its wrinkles and more importantly to bring out the character of the person.
