Brand Identity - Kenya Airports Authority

Brand Identity
Kenya Airports Authority

The Client
Kenya Airports Authority was formed in 1991 and is the owner and operator of nine civilian airports and airstrips in Kenya.

Overview
Prior to 1991, the Aerodromes Department under the Ministry of Transport and Communication handled the services and functions of all the airports in Kenya. This was reminiscent of an aged institution whose identity was also reflective of a government run institution.

Approach
The task involved designing a new logo and brand identity that would be reflective of what the authority wanted to move towards - a progressive regional hub.
I designed the Kenya Airports Authority logo keeping in mind a simple icon based design that could be easily recalled to the service provided.
I also worked on the colour palette, typeface, photographic and graphic style, application and created a Visual Identity System manual available in both physical and digital formats.

Conclusion
In its brief period of existence, the new brand identity not only created a visual apple but it also created positive changes within the organisation.
