Lively Sins – The Seven Deadly Sins from today's perspective

Since middle age the Seven Deadly Sins are described by the Catholic Church as very serious, immoral sins. Sinners are obliged to do penance after committing one of these sins. They nowadays do not play an important role anymore, they still stay as a concept people are familiar with though.

“Lively Sins” presents the Seven Deadly Sins (Greed, Lust, Pride, Sloth, Wrath, Gluttony, Envy) from a today’s perspective with augmented reality technology. An app invites museum visitors to immerse in the seven art works and explore every individual poster from a third perspective. Due to the fact that paintings in museums are very valuable and expensive most of art museums do not serve interactive possibilities for visitors to explore art. The visitor usually stays in the role of an observer from a distance and is not allowed to touch it. To redesign the museum experience an augmented reality app was developed to explore art works from a third perspective and immerse in the art itself.

The project consists of seven printed posters and an app which enables the visitor to interact with the conventional poster. For every sin a fitting color and typography concept has been chosen. The app was then implemented with Unity and Vuforia.
