Project 2 - Principles of Grouping / Gestalt Theory

Project 2 - Principles of Grouping/Gestalt Theory
This was our second assignment in Design 2D: to create plates that represent Gestalt theory. "Gestalt" is a word coined by German psychologists in the 1920s meaning "whole", that objects we see in art has a relationship between the parts and the whole of a composition.
I wanted to illustrate the concepts by creating a "Gestalt house", where rooms represent the principle I'm wanting to achieve.
Closure: "The act of closing or the condition of being closed" (Tim McCreight, Design Language). The mind likes to visually close gaps in spaces where the lines should be. Here, the door is waiting to be closed by the viewer, keeping the closed gap out of the picture, or putting more of the frame into it.
Proximity: "Being near or next to; closeness" (Tim McCreight, Design Language).Proximity shows the nearness or farness an object is to another one. The picture hanging on the wall is a little far the triptych, and not to confuse it with "similarity" all frames are rectangular.
Similarity: Similarity is the appearance of two or more objects that look almost the same, like two sports balls that are similar in size rather than the sport they belong in. Here are two groups of pictures hanging on the wall. Similar frames, but different people.
Continuation: "An uninterrupted succession, unbroken course" (Tim McCreight, Design Language). An example of continuation can be found in this picture, the continuous line on the wall leading up from the hall to the top of the stairs.
