Ground Vision, 2018

Inspired by Brakhage, I created a lyrical film to explore the concept of closed eye vision, ( the patterns of light and colour that would occur when you close your eyes and expose your lids to various light sources) as well as a fluid organic movement between objective reality, the influence of our memory and the physiology of human sight. 
I thought the ground influences my own closed eye vision for the most part, as something that is omnipresent as we live in the Earth. The 'groundscapes' pile up in the back of my mind and they permeate into other memories/experiences to compose a visual music in me.

어릴적 나는 항상 땅을 보고 걸었다. 발너머 조금 멀리 보고 걸으라며 엄마 아빠가 말하곤 했지만 아직도 나는 걸을때면 자주 땅바닥을 보며 걷곤한다. 바닥에는 생각보다 재미난게 많다. 바닥에 보이는걸로 시장게임을 해도 된다. 스크래치도 있고, 스테인도 있고, 껌도 있고, 이렇게 말이다.

이 땅에 태어나서 우리는 지상을 벗어나지 못한다. 조금 아쉬운 마음을 바닥과 친하게 지내는걸로 달래고자 한다. 내가 사는 동안 머무르다 갈곳, 조금 더 유심히 보았다. 거기엔 미학의 비밀이 숨겨져있었다. 
살면서 머리 한구석에 차곡차곡 쌓여가는 바닥풍경은 눈을 감았을때 비로소 상영이 된다.
