Flashdance: The Musical, based on the film, opened for a West End run in 2010, in a revised production by Nikolai Foster.

 

The video design took the gang that comprised the cast and turned them into sketches, animating an additional cast in 80s/MTV style cutaways and accompaniments. In some numbers, tracks were 'sung' by projected visuals, and in others, live cameras replicated the look of 80s dance videos.
