"Collage of Memory", 2018
“Mr Chuck + Mrs Laverne - Collage of Memory”, 2018. To acknowledge the life, memories, stories and marriage of my grandparents whilst celebrating these in visual form. This piece was inspired by the 60th Wedding Anniversary that falls on July 5th 2018 of my grandparents Chuck & Laverne Dawson. Two collages, one for each grandparent are Mr & Mrs prints that act together but also can be read separately through specific details. I purposely chose to use the technique of collage in order to include gathered cut outs of images and words that directly correlate to particular memory or represents a part of life of my grandparents. These works fortunately continue the essence of my projects that developed a matter of interest in my third year at AUT university through my Temporary Practices minor. The matter being, through making and producing material through different art forms I would find different ways of commemorating family and memories - which it vitally important to me.
