CHRISTOPHER D∆VIS's profile

Constructing a Painting, 2011

These "Static-Universe," multi-dimensional, "3-D" "Color Abstraction" paintings, layered with blacks & Whites, Primary Colors and Secondary Colors, are started with the application of water and spray paint.*
This study was created using rain puddles.  It captures a fluxous fluid movement and the connection of water and oil as they seporate and disperse from one another.  I would call this, Layer One.
After examination, if a piece has enough information to be finished with a few touches, then I would add the final layers which usually consist of markers, Deco paint marks, oil pastels, and or colored pencil.  This piece is titled, "The Senses."
This piece is titled, "The Kiss."
This study is an experiment using spray paint and masking tape.
Using my new found knowledge of layering color, experimenting with shapes, touching up with paint pens, and understanding the the relationship of oil and water, I did an experiment to see if I could create the sounds of loud noices, music, and melody.
This piece was presented for my Elements of Visual Thinking course final.
4ft.x8ft. Titled, Synphony #1. 2010-11.
*Protection is worn before handling and using spray paint.
