IMMINENT - Type Con 100

TypeCon is an annual conference that requires collateral that reflects the year’s theme. In 2019, we will be celebrating 100 years of TypeCon. Where the focus will be thinking about the future of typogrpahy and where it is going. The new-media technology calls into question our accepted notion of typographic communication. Not since Gutenberg’s invention of moveable type in the fifteenth century has typographic communication undergone such a fundamental change as today. The typographic trade finds itself at a crossroads - what will that journey mean to you as you travel through TYPECON 100?

The branding of the conference theme, IMMINENT is set in Alexana Nue which is is a futuristic font inspired by outer space. The program book is set in Brother 1816. Brother 1816 is a very flexible, multifaceted and solid typeface, mixing Geometric shapes with Humanistic strokes at the same time. It is paired with another futuristic inspired font called Andale Mono which is a monospaced sans-serif typeface. It was designed to be a highly-legible font for programming usage. Finally, the last font used for headlines is called Museo Slab which is a slab serif that has a modern edge that has clarity and east to read. Each of these fonts were carefully picked to represent the future of type and the journey we take when entering into its world.

The solution will consist of a booklet, mini guide, name badge, two take away posters and a reusable bag that extends the brand identity. These pieces will adds to the conference attendee’s experience that inspires them to think about the journey that typography has gone through and where it will continue to go.

The main program detailing the entirety of the conference, showcases the typographic identity of IMMINENT.
A smaller, mini brochure allows for a quick glance one where to go and at what time. This also includes a detailed map of the city.
Badges are used to identity and categorize the participants. The are broken up into four groups with a different color which include, attendee, volunteer, sponsor and speaker. These badges also include a QR Code that allows participants to enter various breakout sessions, workshops and keynote speakers.
Reusable tote bags will be given to all those who attend. The bags are designed with the conference identity to create a lasting impact on the viewer. The bags are not only a keepsake but also a way for attendees to stay organized. This allows them to keep programs, maps, brochure and varies goodies in an organized manner.
Two posters would be found inside the reusable bag for each participant. This serves as not only a comparative keepsake but also allows the viewer to have a little piece of the typographic identity to use as "inspiration" once leaving the confrence.
