The concept behind this poster was a ctitious exhibit about a pho- tographer: Diane Arbus.
I am an avid admirer of her photography and wanted to pay homage to her.
The decision to use black and white as well as the square format for the text is a reminder of Diane Arbus’ black and white square photography. The various grey colours in the font are in juxtaposition with varying levels of transparency are a tribute to the subtractive colour model, used in colour printing. There are three layers :
- Diane Arbus retrospective Tate Modern, London on March 30th May/30th 2018
- I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn’t photo- graph them
- Art (repeated numerous times)
I believe the quote above describes the work of Diane Arbus, which is why I chose it.
In the second poster, the idea was to discreetly incorporate one of her most famous photos behind.
