This is Varanasi
Varanasi, also known as Benares, is a city on the banks of the river Ganga in North India. It's a major religious hub in India as it is the holiest of the seven sacred cities in Hinduism. Every Hindu wants wants to come here to die and be cremated on the banks of the holy river.

A ghat is the contraction of stairs leading up to the river. There are many different ghats and two burning ghats. Cremations go on 24/7 at the burning ghats. In the evening, the other ghats are a meeting place for the locals to relax and talk about the day.

In 2018, I stayed in Varanasi for five days. Every evening I explored the ghats to capture daily life. It's one of my favourite places in the world for photography and to stroll around to watch life pass by.
