My dislocation from the United States last semester caused me to look at the current state of America and the media landscape with a gaze that is freshly shocked by the extraordinary absurdities of the current political climate. In this body of work I look at recent events such as the Kavanaugh hearings through a feminist lens, and protest the abuses and shortcomings of people in power. My work resists numbness and the dangers of complacency in light of controversial events, striving to cut through cynical detachment. Using the subjective mediums of painting and drawing as a vehicle for visual research, I am engaging with media and exploring the scope of human interactions and emotions in a fractious landscape. This engagement is an ongoing process in both art and life that aims to resist polarization and discover nuance by exploring the didactic harmony of human differences.
