"Sculptural array of beehives" Indianapolis Star, August 30 2012
This work was produced for the 1x20 competition organised by the American Institute of Architects, the Indianapolis chapter, and it was selected as one of the 20 proposals to participate in the group
exhibition in Harrison Center for Arts in Indianapolis. The goal of the competition was to impose a spatially formed solution to a common problem of the urban areas, represented only by the photograph
of a common urban environment. The following text was enclosed with the proposal:
Scientists predict at most four years of existence of the human race after the extermination of bees off the earth, and since the 80% of world’s bee population is already gone, we have to act responsibly in order to maintain our species. The importance of implementation of bee hives is crucial, especially in the urban environment, which is primarily abandoned by the bees. Designing the dwellings for bees, by introducing sculptures, visual (and sound) instalations in public spaces, would strenghten our co-existence with the nature and it would let the bees play their important role in the life of the planet.
Here are some exhibition opening photos from Friday, September 7 2012, at the Harrison Center for the Arts in Indianapolis. The monthlong exhibit was a prequel to the annual Architects' Home Tour event by the AIA.
