For this project, I worked on creating a new logo and identity for a catering company based in Los Angeles. The client had an idea for the name and wanted to convey and overall theme of cuisine that was casual and approachable, but also refined. Their clientele ranged from the Upright Citizens Brigade cafe to hosting casual parties and lavish weddings, and the identity needed to seamlessly fit within all those themes. I started off by brainstorming a few concepts to help guide the conversation. The client loved the hand-lettered look of the first concept and the contained shape of the second, so I set to work refining the letterforms and exploring color variations.
We ultimately settled on a burst shape, and had business cards printed on a silk-laminated stock with a faux kraft texture with a hit of gold foil to really elevate the feel. I delivered several variations of the logo, including ones suitable for light and dark backgrounds, as well as a small-usage logo for sticker prints and icons.
