Voices: Free iPad almost costed me my life...

INTRODUCTION:

In this project we were assigned to complete a story that was important to us and showed some aspect of our life and our view on the world. I chose to tell a story that showed my personal growth through one of my past experiences. It shows how my view on the world was changed for the better and helped me made me appreciate the smaller things in life.

Summary
It was around the end of my summer and I decided it was time I got a new phone. I entered the Rogers store with the intentions of buying a new phone but we ended up staying longer than expected because the cashier mentioned a special deal that we qualified for. It was near Rogers closing time, I was transferring my data from my old phone to my new phone and when I was about to leave with my dad that's when two guys dressed in enter the store and say with a soft spoken tone "This is a robbery everyone get on the ground". No one took them seriously, in-fact around half of the people in the store broke out in laughter until one of the guys went behind the counter and made there way over to me. The man pulled out a pistol, pointed it to my chest and told everyone to get on the ground once more. It was at this moment that I realized that they were being serious and so I turned around and laid on the ground with my face staring at the floor. Not even a minute passes by and I look straight at the guy who is trying to force my father to lay down on the floor although he had a broken hand he was resisting but luckily he did not get shot. As the the two guys were getting all of the phones, laptops, tablets and anything else they could get their hands on they fled out of the front door and took off in a U-haul van. It didn't take long for the police to get there hands on the robbers and bring them into custody. In the end, I just want to say that I'm just a normal person who happened to get into a bad situation. No one is immune to this but I learned to appreciate things even in the worst situations.

Describe the setting.
It was last year (2018) near the end of summer, I was inside a fairly new Rogers store surrounded by the newest tablets and phones.

What was I doing?
I was at the Rogers store buying a new phone to replace my old phone.

Challenge
The problem I encountered was that there we two guys was robbing the store and I needed to get a good look at the two guys and their vehicle without them noticing and make sure that everyone was alright.

Struggle
The robbers made it difficult for me because they came to me first with a gun to my chest and told me to lie down on the ground facing the floor, which was preventing me from getting a look at them.

Realization
At first I didn't even notice that the two robbers were serious because they were talking with a soft spoken tone of voice and I came to the realization that they were serious.

What happened?
In the end I was somewhat successful I was able to get a good look at one of the guys and their getaway vehicle, I ended up leaving with both of my phones, no one was injured, and they were both caught in the end.

Lessons I learned
The lesson to takeaway from this is that no one is immune to these types of situations it taught me to appreciate everything around me and to stop taking things for granted?
