One Stitch at a Time

ONE STITCH AT A TIME
This was another school assignment for my Book Arts class, and the very last one I did. Since it was my very last semester at school, I decided to create a book that had to do with me graduating.

I decided to name my piece "One Stitch at a Time" playing with the famous phrase of "one step at a time." Where sewing, each stitch you make is of great importance, no matter how small, because the final piece won't be as beautiful and/or won't function as well if you miss any. So is with education, and life over all. This was a college girl life stitches through college, though. I also, decided to go not too serious with it and be a little funny with my adventures and stories I lived at BYU-I, so even though they are not this huge life changing experiences, they were still important for me and special; they were those tiny stitches that still form our future and ourselves.

Inside the box you can find an accordion book explaining the whole piece and a quote that inspired it as well. Then, below the book there are some wooden spools with "thread" with the stories written on it. Each color is coordinated with the explanation that the accordion book contains, and of course, you'll find stitches throughout the piece.
"It is so important that you young men and you young women get all of the education that you can. The Lord has said very plainly that His people are to gain knowledge of countries and kingdoms and of things of the world through the process of education, even by study and by faith."
