PHILOSOPHICAL CONTEMPLATIONS - I AND MY CIRCUMSTANCES

I AM I AND MY CIRCUMSTANCES
a new drawing project based on recent philosophical musings. Is there an essence to who we are? Is there an essential Barbara? If so, what part of that essence would carry through if the Barbara I identify as me had been born into a different body? Who would it be if I had been born into a different body, at a different time or a different place? I will carry on into other possible MEs as I make this trip.
Who am I # 2
Is my physical being a restriction? Does it limit who I am and obstruct my view of the essence?
india ink drawing "under construction"
Maybe this is the finished drawing..or maybe I'll continue..depends on how much more I need to meditate on the subject
Who am I? #3
Is there a bodyless "me" somewhere? Does the essential "me" travel" somewhere independently of it's physical being?
Peeking out from behind the mask
Does my inner somebody peek out from behind my daily actions. Is it more the real me than the one I show externally? Are they the same? Can one exist without the other? Which one?
Who am I # a
this is a former, more sculptural investigation of a similar thought..the seen version and the inner version of my "me"
