Wild Japan:
I wanted to portray a vast and remote wilderness and evoke a sense of serenity. The Welcome sign invites us into this world and the imperial red sun is the symbol of the nation. The the tree has long been associated with Japan. The roaming tiger was a late addition. He balanced the image and the high detail and bold colours contrast with the broad flat layers used elsewhere. He represents the beauty of freedom and majesty of nature.
Close-up of the Cherry Blossom. Wanted the transperency of the colour to give depth and density and also the lightness of the blossoms.
