I decided to use a palm frond because it has ridges and I thought it would be a challenge, I was right. It is very difficult to draw straight lines on a piece of material with ridges. I chose blues and whites and greys because the frond gave me beachy vibes. I found the frond when I was wandering around the woods behind my house with my friends. I also basically live in a swamp, like the rest of people in Florida. I chose triangles as the shapes because they have straight lines and I thought would be a little easier and more interesting than doing some other kind of geometric shape. My concentration started out being painting geometric shapes on nature but I’m running out of ideas for pieces of nature that I could paint on. I believe my concentration will evolve into painting geometric shapes and patterns on uncommon objects such as man made objects like tires or the bench seats in the little boat in my pond. Geometric shapes have hypnotic lines and edges that blend together well and I really love. So far I have been using a similar color pallet of blues, pinks, purples, and greys which tie my pieces together but I want to branch off from these colors and incorporate more yellows and reds and greens because I’d like to expand what I know and I’m comfortable with.
